Lazada vs Shopee: which is actually cheaper?

We compared 340 products sold on both Lazada and Shopee Philippines. More than half were the same price; when they differed, Shopee won about two to one. Here's the data.

If you shop online in the Philippines, you've probably wondered whether it's worth checking both Lazada and Shopee before you buy, or whether one is just reliably cheaper. We're in a good position to answer that: we track the same products on both marketplaces every day, so instead of guessing, we counted.

How we compared

We looked at 340 products that are sold on both Lazada and Shopee - the same item, same size or variant, from official brand stores and authorized sellers (LazMall and Shopee Mall) on both sides. For each one we used the price you'd actually pay at checkout: the lower of the listed price and the price after the store's own voucher, in stock on both. Platform-wide vouchers and payment promos can lower it further on either side, so treat this as the sticker-after-store-voucher price. Figures are as of early October 2026 and change constantly.

The short version:

When Shopee was cheaper

The biggest Shopee wins were on electronics and appliances:

Samsung 43" QLED Q5F Smart TV (2026)₱25,379₱17,499₱7,880 (31%)
Sony WH-1000XM6 noise-cancelling headphones₱27,999₱20,999₱7,000 (25%)
Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Lite₱7,999₱6,099₱1,900 (24%)

When Lazada was cheaper

Lazada had the edge on some of the newest phones and on home goods:

ProductShopeeLazadaYou save
Samsung Galaxy S26 FE (128GB)₱44,990₱30,790₱14,200 (32%)
Mandaue Foam G2G Memory Spring Mattress (Double)₱19,500₱15,600₱3,900 (20%)

Why are so many prices identical?

The big reason is that most of these listings come from the same official brand store, selling on both marketplaces at once. A brand like Samsung or Sony sets one price and pushes it to both its LazMall and its Shopee Mall shop, so the sticker matches. Differences open up because of store vouchers (a shop can run a bigger discount on one platform), stock and timing (a flash sale on one side), and the odd listing that one store simply prices higher. That's why a tie is the most common outcome - and also why, on any given day, the exception can be worth thousands.

So what should you do?

Check both - it's a 30-second habit that occasionally saves you ₱7,000. Neither platform is a safe default: Shopee wins a bit more often, but Lazada had the single biggest savings in this sample (₱14,200 on the Galaxy S26 FE). And watch the price history, not just the discount badge - a "sale" that only matches the usual price isn't a deal on either side.

That's exactly what we do here: baratobot checks both marketplaces every day and shows the two prices side by side, with store vouchers applied, so you can see the real gap at a glance instead of opening two apps.

baratobot is independent and not affiliated with Lazada or Shopee. Prices are read from public product pages once a day and can change at any time - always check the listing before you buy.
